The Truth about Tithes and Offerings: The Unfaithfulness of God's People (Part 1)

 Text: Malachi 2:10-12

Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us? Why do we deal treacherously with one another By profaning the covenant of the fathers? (v. 10)

Judah has deal treacherously, And an abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem, For Judah has profaned The LORD's holy institution which He loves: He has married the daughter of a foreign god. (v. 11)

May the LORD cut off from the tents of Jacob The man who does this, being awake and await, Yet who brings an offering to the LORD of hosts! (v. 12)

Why is it that people mistreat one another? Is God's Sovereign over creation? Did the Lord created us in His image and likeness?  What was the covenant by which the people of Israel defile? In this particular article I will begin to address by answering many of these most important questions. First, it is so important to understand the context of the passage/s of scripture within its proper context. Comparing scripture with scripture is proof positive in understanding a particular passage of scripture even when it comes to difficult verses.

In Malachi 2:10 it says, "Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us? Why do we deal treacherously with one another By profaning the covenant of the fathers?" Malachi the prophet begins to asked a series of questions in Malachi 2:10 and that is of the following:

(1) "Have we not all one Father?" (v. 10)  We serve One True and living God by which it is based upon monotheism; not polytheism. Monotheism means one; polytheism means "many." It is unfortunately that there are groups and organizations that pride itself based upon the mere fact that God is on their side; not on the side of others. God is Sovereign over all things by which He accomplish His will and purpose. (Eph. 1:3-11) God direct the affairs of history and humanity in and of itself. There is nothing of any surprise by God nor does things that goes on into this world catches the Lord off guard. Our Sovereign Lord and Creator knows the beginner as well as the end. God is Sovereign over all regardless of a person's racial and ethinicity. No one can claim that they are very chosen ones by which those who are not chosen are left out of God's predetermine plan and purpose. Nor to claim to be the most holy, pure, and sanctified.

(2) "Has not one God created us?" (v. 10)  We are God's creation by which He have created us in His own image and likeness. We are God's image-bearers. We are unique in the sense that God created us to be who we are without the monopoly manufactured by men today. God created us with such uniqueness and different. It is not a one size fit all! We come from different culture, language, and custom. When it comes to the beauty of God's creation is to reflect upon His power, providence, and goodness. Whatever God says and do it is always perfect and right. When though God have created us is that because of Sin it marrs that of God's image-bearers. Sin dampens the image bearers of God by which dim to see. Nevertheless God is Creator by which He created all people from all walks of life.

(3) People mistreating one another (v. 10)  Whenever there are laws made and broken it will have the tendency of people mistreating each other. We see that which is taken place with what is happening concerning politics and political leaders. We also see that which is going on within our judical system and law enforcement. The laws of politics plays a major role in how people are governs: that is on the federal, State, and local level. There is an opportunity by which such laws deprive people of own rights even human rights. Creating a Us Vs. Them mentality. That is the "haves" and the haven'ts. Thus creating a social and economical caste system by which to divide people. The social engineers are well aware of what they are doing. The end game is to create even more division, strife, and social disparities. People ends up fighting and warring with each other. Whenever laws are violated like leader like people becomes "uncivilised." We cannot expect to have civility within this country when there are "uncivilised" people in Congress who make laws, legislate laws by which they violate the very laws that they require other people to live by. People have a tendency to look down on others, make mockery of others, and to show partiality towards others. It only creates resentment, hostility, and disparities. They way by which people mistreat one another is a spiritual affont to God.
