10 Books About Prosperity That Screwed the Church Up
Even though the control of human communication is very much evident among many Faith leaders as to what how many of their members are taught to avoid various books and literature is indication of control and security. Many Faith leaders will say and do what it takes to silence the mouths of its critics that challenge their teaching and authority. Many Faith leader will utilize such "scare" tactics by quoting Psalms 105:15 where it says, "Touch not mine anointed and do my prophets no harm." Many within the Word-Faith camp cautions those who are apart of their churches and ministries that to question that of its own leadership and to challenge their "authority" is to question GOD. There is nothing warranted in Psalms 105:15 that even says nor suggest that to ask the leadership of the many Faith leaders the question or to even challenge their authority that they are "touching" God's anointed. The question, "Are God's Anointed Beyond Accountability?" These self-proclaimed "anointed" teachers of the Word are not accountable to anyone nor any ecclesiastical authority but have become their own "authority." There are no checks and balances by which they are accountable to what they teach. Scandals, financial impropriety, and teaching of false doctrines have in fact causes many Faith televangelist to "Fall From Grace." With the recent scandal that rock African American Faith televangelist Bishop Eddie Long sent a shock wave throughout the evangelical church world today. Whenever there is a distortion of biblical truth that it will adversely affect the lives of God's people where they lose faith in God, the Bible, and the church altogether (2 Tim. 2:17-18).
Throughout this article I will begin to list, "10 Books About Prosperity That Screwed the Church Up." Many of these books written by many Faith televangelist who appear on Christian television, radio, and the social media have in fact screwed up the life of the church. Their writings are consist of misquoting of scripture, misinterpretation of the Bible, and biblical misapplication by which they have "spiritualize" the context of scripture (Matt. 4:1-11). Let's take for example 3 John 2 as the standard text by which many Faith leaders support the prosperity gospel. They have taken the word "prosper" to make it fit within the cultural framework of the prosperity-faith movement. 3 John 2 was in fact a letter written to Gaius by which the apostle John says by paraphrasing, "I wish that everything will go well with you even as your soul is getting alone well." This is the correct rendering of the 3 John 2 nor does it refers to material prosperity. John was praying for the physical well-being of Gaius and that of soul prosperity by which the system of the prosperity theology grossly misunderstood the text of scripture. There are numerous other passages of scripture that many prosperity "theologians" have arbitrary but systematically pervert biblical truth (2 Pet. 3:16).
Many of the distinctive teachings of the prosperity gospel is that of Revelation Knowledge, faith, Abrahamic covenant, and anointing also by which "The Grace Empowerment," and "The Grace Revolution" spearheaded by both Creflo Dollar and Joseph Prince: that of its "mixture" of grace with prosperity (1 Tim. 6:20). The basic premise of these "grace" teachers is to eliminate the idea of the believer's daily confession of sin (1 Jn. 1:9) but also it is to conceal that of the prosperity teaching by utilizing the "Grace Revolution" as a spiritual "front." (2 Cor. 11:3) The "inexperienced" and naïve of believers especially those who are leaders in the church today are not able to detect the subtle danger of "Grace Revolution" movement's teachings (2 Pet. 2:1). These so-called "grace" teachers do not understand the basis of what grace is but that in order for people to experience "total" life prosperity is to follow such "formulas" of faith as a means of works; not grace (Eph. 2:8-9). The prosperity gospel is a works movement; not a grace movement. The Church must model that of the Bereans in that "they searched the scriptures daily to see if those things were so." (Acts 17:11)
Here are "10 Books About Prosperity That Screwed the Church Up" as of the following. These are resource materials by which the student of the Bible can conduct such extensive research.
