What Is The Holy Spirit?
There is such a misunderstanding of the Person and work of the Holy Spirit. When it comes to the Person of the Holy Spirit is that the Spirit of God is a Divine Person; not some impersonal "force" or "it" taught by many cults today. In these times the Holy Spirit is ever mentioned nor it is taught within the Church today as if they have such a complete understanding of the Person of the Holy Spirit, but are teaching doctrines that are contrary to the clear teaching of scripture (1 Tim. 4:1).
The apostle Paul according to 1 Timothy 4:1 says, "The Spirit clearly says that in the latter times some will abandon the faith and following deceiving spirits and things taught by demons." We are living in the last days where people today within the professing church will abandon the true faith so as to pay attention to deceiving spirits taught by demons." It is important that we as God's people begin to teach what is taught clearly in scripture: that of the basics of Christian doctrine which are the foundation of sound biblical theology (2 Tim. 4:3-4). Whenever the church teach "sound" doctrine by which there is a tendency of people rejecting what is the truth of God's Word will be selective of false teachers who will tingle their ears so as to follow such myths. The "myth" of false teaching in the professing church today is to give people the idea that they can create the world through the power of his or her "force" of faith as if they are Sovereign. It is impossible for mere Man to create the world of their own imagination simply because puny man is God's creation. How is it that Man can be like his or her Creator when in fact they are God's creation? The Sovereign God of the universe did not utilize the "force" of His faith to creation the universe. It was through that of God's eternal power and divine nature (Rom. 1:20). When God spoke the universe came to be (Ge. 1:3, 6, 9, 14, 20, 24, 29).
Throughout this article I will begin address the Person of the Holy Spirit as a (1) Divine Comforter and (2) The Spirit of truth. As the Holy Spirit being our Divine Comforter not only are believers indwelt by the Holy Spirit, but to be with us during times of difficulties. With the ways things are happening in the world today were there are senseless killings, mishaps, and hardship we as the Church are needful of the Holy Spirit to comfort us through our sorrows and difficulties in life. When it comes to the Holy Spirit as being the Spirit of truth are also needful in discerning truth from error (1 Jn. 4:1, 2-3). The Holy Spirit as Divine Truth bears witness to the truth of God's Word nor does the Holy Spirit contradict that of His divine nature (Jn. 14:26).
In John 15:26a Jesus says, "But when the Comforter is come..." Jesus as He was talking to his disciples assures them that the Holy Spirit as Divine Comforter (Paraclete) will be with them as well as being indwelt by the Holy Spirit. Every believer who is born of the Spirit of God are "indwelt" by the Holy Spirit (Jn. 14:16; 1 Cor. 6:19). In so many words the Holy Spirit takes resident in the life of every believer. There is not a time when the Holy Spirit ever departs from the believer even though there are some who will contend that the moment that the believer "relapse" in faith, stop believing, preserve in faith or end up sinning, but that the Holy Spirit no longer there in the life of the believer. Thus in turn there comes several other demons that enter into the house were once the Spirit dwells by which the latter state of that man is worse than the first. How is it that the believer who for one moment "relapse" in faith have a demon or demons by which the Holy Spirit is evicted out of the life of the believer. Not only is the believer "indwelt" by the Holy Spirit but that the Spirit of God brings conviction as to the waywardness of the believer. It is impossible for a true believer to lose his or her salvation when they are chosen by God's election of grace (Jn. 6:38, 44). It is possible for a "true" genuine believer to be a Christian, but can be wayward in his or her own walk with the Lord by which they can be out of fellowship with God as a result of their disobedience (1 Jn. 1:9). Sin does not affect the believer's salvation, but there fellowship with the Lord. It is needful for believers to make such daily confession of sin so as to be restored unto Christ's fellowship (1 Jn. 1:9). For the one who says that they are without sin deceive themselves by which the truth does not abide in them (1 Jn. 1:8). The Holy Spirit as Divine Comforter comforts believers during times of difficulties and trials by which the Holy Spirit remains to be with us.
Also in John 15:26c the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth (1 Jn. 2:27). The apostle John according to 1 John 2:27 says, "As for you, the anointing you received from him him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and so that anointing is real, not counterfeit-just as it has taught you remain in him." Once again believers are indwelt by the Holy Spirit by which the Spirit of God is divine Truth (Jn. 14:26). The Holy Spirit is divine Truth by which the Holy Spirit does not contradict Himself (Jn. 15:26). The Holy Spirit witness Christ as divine Son of God; not Gnostics within the professing church that deny the deity and humanity of Christ (1 Jn. 4:2-3). Everything that the Church needs to know pertaining to the truth are within God's written revelation (2 Tim. 3:15, 16).
There are false spiritual leaders who claim such an "anointing" as if they have a corner on the truth at the exclusion of the Church as a whole (2 Pet. 1:20). They claim to have received such "spiritual" revelation "directly" from God so as to be in the God-class of men. Most Christian mystics will contend that in order to understand God's "divine" revelation is within a person's human spirit; not through such sensory or Self-Rule knowledge (Col. 2:8). Such knowledge or "gnosis" is what is intuitive and esoteric outside the boundaries of God's Word. The avenue by which Gnostics attain salvation is to (1) Recognize who you are in "Christ." And (2) The Christ from "within." Salvation is through personal faith in Jesus Christ; not "mere" knowledge taught by Gnostics within the professing church today (Eph. 2:8, 9).
Every believer are "anointed" by God (1 Jn. 2:27). False spiritual leaders who claim to have such an "anointing" at the exclusion of Church are not truly anointed. They are blind and ignorant of the truth of God's Word whereby they are blinded by Satan (2 Cor. 4:3-4). The "truly" anointed are believers who have experienced personal faith in Jesus Christ so as to know the truth of God's Word by which they know all things pertaining to the truth of scripture. The Holy Spirit is our Divine Teacher so as to know the truth of scripture in discerning truth from error (1 Jn. 4:1 with Acts 17:11). The Church possess such "true" spiritual knowledge as opposed to Gnostics or mystics in the professing church today who possess such "fleshly" knowledge (Col. 2:18, 19).
