The Bible is not a "mere" book!  There are some people who treat the Bible as some type of literature just like for example Shakespeare.  When it comes to the Bible is that it is extraordinary when it come to that of the character and nature of scripture:  that of its complete reliability of the prophecy of scripture (2 Pet. 1:19a). Also, when it comes to the nature of scripture is that it makes a person wise unto salvation (2 Tim. 3:15).  The problem with many neo-orthodox theologians and postmodernist is that God speaks through the Bible, but, is not the very word of God. In so many words that in order for scripture to be complete is that there has to be such additional revelation so as to insure that of its completeness. How is it that the Church today have been influence by mysticism? First, before I begin to probe into the matter as to how contemporary evangelicalism have been influenced by mysticism and those who are proponents of such mystical theology is to give a clear cut definition of mysticism. Let's take for example according to Colossians 2:18 where the apostle Paul says, "Let no one beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels intruding into those things which they have seen being vainly puffed up by their own fleshly mind." I felt a need to address that of this particular subject matter due to the fact that there are many within the Church today who are unaware of the influence of mysticism. The average layperson who perhaps are not familiar with the term "mystics," and "mysticism" is very much at odds with what they are taught within that of the professing church today, but, to put it in everyday language is that mysticism is such spiritual awe so as to entertain such angelic beings by which many false teachers claim to have seen something within the mystic's spirit so as to have such a "conversation" with God. Such idea can go from hearing God's voice, out-of-body experience (OBE), inner voice, or voice of the spirit. We live in a culture, especially those who are within the Church today prefer to "literally" hearing God's voice within their own human spirit. Does the Bible clearly teach that the human spirit is the candlestick by which God communicate such biblical truth? What is the basis of such "inward" voice of the spirit? Does such "inward" voice within a person's human spirit validate such truth claim that is outside the boundaries of God's Word? There is a vast difference between God's kingdom and man's own kingdom. The kingdom of God is based upon God's righteousness; man's kingdom is based upon the righteousness of men who seek to build their own righteousness: that of works-righteousness (Gen. 11). There are spiritual forces in the world today that goes against God's people establishing God's kingdom on the earth by which Satan is the Author of false religions (1 Tim. 4:1).
