The Historical Event At The Day of Pentecost: The Then Or Now?
The Church today is made to believe that what happened at the day of Pentecost continues to take place today. What transpired at the day of Pentecost was in fact actually took place, but to say that it remains to be a vibrant part of the Church today is not warranted in scripture (Acts 2:1-4). It is true that many Charismatics and Pentecostal movement will utilize as a biblical proof text in regards to Hebrews 13:8 where it says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Their contention is that what happen than can happen Now as to that of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit so as to the Church experiencing the empowerment of the Spirit as evidence of speaking in tongues. Yet once again in Hebrews 13:8 does not warranted it in scripture. In Hebrews 13:8 it actually teaches that God is unchangeable in Who He is.
